Guelph, ON – April 6, 2025

The energy was electric at the Real Guelph Pickleball Club this past week as the Association of Pickleball Athletes (APA) wrapped up one of the most anticipated tournaments of the season — The Royal City Open. And this year, all eyes were on our rising star Jessica Kawamoto, who delivered a show-stopping performance on the court.

Jessica clinched gold in the Mixed PRO Division alongside partner Louis Charles, a duo that dazzled spectators with speed, strategy, and seamless synergy.

Kawamoto didn't stop there, she went on to battle through an intense Women's PRO bracket, ultimately securing silver with teammate Marie Christine. The pair displayed incredible resilience and tactical brilliance throughout the day, adding another podium finish to Kawamoto's already impressive weekend.

The Royal City Open, hosted at the brand-new Real Guelph Pickleball (RPG) facility, featured over five days of nonstop action with age and skill brackets from 3.0 to PRO, and the first-ever APA Team Challenge.

Fans and players alike will surely keep a close eye on Jessica Kawamoto. If The Royal City Open was any indication, her journey to the top is just getting started.
